HomeConsumer Questions › Marathon Premier card
Q: I have a Marathon "Premier" card (the upgraded version of a regular no-fee gasoline card) that I don't use too often. It costs $35 annually, and it is my oldest account (1996). It costs $35 annually because it has some travel benefits that can save you money. Since this is my oldest account should I keep it active, even though I don't really buy a lot of Marathon gasoline, or close it and save the annual fee?
A: Tough call. If your credit history is weak, then keep the card as the credit score considers the length of your credit card history. Otherwise, drop the card and save the bucks.
